The Ambrose School Auction Projects 2011
The Morning Kindergarten class chose to make a quilt utilizing the children’s artwork of the birds they have studied. A playful arrangement of vibrant fabric surrounds adorable renditions of mallard ducks, penguins and blue jays. Parents carefully selected each child’s most talented drawing. The finished size is approximately 64”x58”, perfect to hang on display in your home or to use as a lap quilt. Parent volunteers from the class cut and pieced the quilt and an artistic gentleman from the Quilt Whisperers, Jack Jeppson, quilted it.

Kindergarten Afternoon: Enjoy your backyard this spring with a gorgeous bird bath featuring ducks drawn by your kindergartener. Each duck is tiled over with glass mosaic tiles and sealed for protection from the elements. The bird bath is a sturdy metal with an aged bronze finish.

Mrs. Daniel's All-day Kindergarten class takes one of God's precious creations in hand and releases it into the wind. They do not know what to expect. Some feel joy and excitement, others nervousness and fear, but all take a step of faith and trust the One who will carry His creation away. In this moment, captured on film, we see ourselves also learning to trust. We release our Kindergarteners to the Lord, feeling the same joy, excitement and fear, but praising God for His faithful assurance! He controls their flight and will take our precious birds higher and farther than we ever could.

First grade is the year to study bugs and Mrs. Shattuck's class appropriately themed their project around the book: "The Grouchy Ladybug", by Eric Carle. Along with a hardback copy of the book, you can have dinner service for 8, including: hand painted ceramic dinner plates, salad plates and soup bowls, 8 colorful linen napkins and (of course) bug napkin rings! Each child chose an animal or insect and designed their dish. What an adorable way to capture 1st grade memories!

Plan to build some quality family memories this summer sitting around a campfire cooking s'mores and sharing some laughs. A hand-crafted log bench and footstool have been specially engraved with a wood burner by each student of Mrs. Liimakka's 2nd grade class. In addition to engraving each of their individual names on the bench they have also shared one of their favorite proverbs - "Pleasant words are like a honeycomb..." So, cuddle up by the fire and snuggle under a luxurious suede blanket embroidered with a very important Bible verse the 2nd graders memorized this year.

In case you didn’t know, amphibians are great! This year, Mrs. Householder’s second grade class was commissioned to show you that frogs are the grandest amphibians of all. Inspired by one of the memorable chants taught at The Ambrose School, the children have transformed their knowledge into a distinctive and fun piece of art. They put together an original collage of frogs as they appear in their natural environment. Icky-finicky swamp dwellers, serenading bull-frogs, red-eyed tree-huggers, the Prince-waiting-to-be-kissed and other frogs are depicted in this wall hanging. Each of the students rendered the vision of their favorite green hopper using water colors, showing the unique creativity of each individual child. When you mount this on your wall, your guests will be caught, just like a fly sticks to a frog’s tongue. You can have fun learning about Amphibians without getting wet or slimy. This print is simply “ribbiting!”

Third Grade- Mrs Davis- DID YOU KNOW that the art of quilting originated in 14th century Europe? Imagine a seamstress or tailor using primitive tools, stitching together the first quilted garment, unaware of the substantial legacy they would bestow upon the world. Rich in history and masterfully created, this 52" x 63" QUILT or Wall Art tells the story of the Greek Olympics, a heritage that today is woven through countless cultures throughout civilization. The professional photos stitched into the quilt chronicle the experiences the children had as they stepped back in time and participated just as the athletes did in the first Olympics. Clad in classic Greek tunics, they took part in competitive games where achievement and fellowship emerged. This elegant remembrance is wrapped up in God’s word, 2 eloquent verses elaborately embroidered alongside the photos. It’s a treasure made to last a lifetime

Each student in Mrs. Tefft’s third-grade class helped create this beautifully framed mirror. The deep, royal purple colors of the mosaic frame spotlight a variety of crosses. Hang this large mirror on any wall in your home and be reminded of your child’s third-grade year and the cross of the most royal king, Christ. The project is complete with handwritten notecards by each child with their favorite Bible verse from the schoolyear.

Mr. Daniel's fourth-grade class used their artistic talents this year to create a stunning wall-hanging (2' x 2-1/2') based on one of their class memory verses, Ephesians 6:10-18, which describes the Full Armor of God. The design strives to integrate two very important aspects of their fourth-grade year: the academic study of the MiddleAges, and their growing awareness of the daily spiritual battle they face as maturing Christians. Each student embossed a silver-like metal plate - meant to evoke Medieval armor - with either an
original drawing of a piece of armor, beautiful script, or a lovely Celtic knot design. These pieces were then arranged on and around a battle-worn shield.
Mr. Greif’s 4th grade class is featuring a set of three stained-glass windows. In the large window we have used the shield and Chi Rho symbol taken from our school crest. In Greek, Chi and Rho are the first two letters of the name Christ. The earliest Christians used this symbol, combined with the Greek letters Alpha and Omega, to symbolize Christ. The smaller windows are inspired by rose windows, which can be seen in various forms throughout the Medieval period.
